UM Dragon Boat Team wins championship and second runner-up at the Guangzhou and Hong Kong Dragon Boat Races

UM Dragon Boat Team wins championship in the 9th Stanley Dragon Boat Short Course Races
(collegiate category, the 200-meter standard dragon race) for the second consecutive time.

Through fierce competition, the UM Dragon Boat Team placed third thanks
to its tenacity and consistently good performance.


Lately, 30 athletes and a coach of the University of Macau (UM) Dragon Boat Team participated in the Yuexiu Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Races 2010 (collegiate category, the 600-meter standard dragon race) and the 9th Stanley Dragon Boat Short Course Races (collegiate category, the 200-meter standard dragon race), and won the second runner-up and championship respectively, bringing glory to UM.

There were altogether 102 teams participating in the Yuexiu Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Races 2010, including close to 20 teams from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Macau, as well as 80 veteran teams from the Chinese Mainland. A total of 9 teams competed in the 600-meter standard dragon race for the collegiate category. Through fierce competition, the UM Dragon Boat Team placed third thanks to its tenacity and consistently good performance.

In the 9th Stanley Dragon Boat Short Course Races (collegiate category, the 200-meter standard dragon race), which took place in Stanley, our athletes competed with teams from Hong Kong universities. They beated formidable contestants and swept the championship for the second consecutive time.

This year has been a fruitful one for UM Dragon Boat Team. Apart from the abovementioned medals, the team also won numerous medals at various other international competitions, including the championship and the first runner-up at at the Macau International Dragon Boat Races at the 250-meter race (open category) and the 500-meter race (open category), respectively.
